Fake Chapter Records is a US independent record label based in Maywood, New Jersey.[1]
The label was founded by Michael Gilligan in 1996 under the name Chapter 11 Records. In 1998, it was renamed first to Fake Chapter 11 Records and then to Fake Chapter Records because of a naming conflict with a record label in California.[1][2][3][4]
Fake Chapter Records has released about 40 records, both by lesser-known alternative indie bands and internationally established performers such as Miles Hunt and Erica Nockalls (Not An Exit, 2007; Catching More Than We Miss 2009), DMBQ (Esoteric Black Hair, 2004), Arms and Sleepers (Bliss Was It In That Dawn To Be Alive, 2006; Matador, 2009), Dryer (Strut and Fret 1993 - 2002, 2010), Doc Hopper, Mr. Steve & Miss Katie , Domenick Carino, Green To Think, CJ Grogan, Trauma Queens, The House Lights, Steven Piperno, The Sixfifteens, The Mean Season, Harper Fair, and others.[5][6]
